Audio Tour

The next time you visit Mount Rushmore be sure to take part in The Mount Rushmore Audio Tour incorporating music, narration, interviews, historic recordings and sound effects that will give information regarding a variety of topics... from Gutzon Borglum to the presidents and from the natural resources to the cultures that have impacted the Black Hills. After listening to the tour, we hope that you will be inspired by the stories of vision and determination.

National Park Service Deputy Dan Wenk presented the Audio Tour with the Director's Award for Excellence in Interpretive Media in February. Click here to read more. The Association of Partners for Public Lands recently named Mount Rushmore as the winner in the audio/visual division during the 2007 Media and Partnership Awards held in Sacramento. In addition, the National Association for Interpretation named the tour as the winner in the Audio Tour Division during the 2007 Interpretive Media Awards held in Wichita, Kansas November 8. The Media Awards spotlight those who promote excellence in the delivery of natural, cultural and historical interpretive services.

You can rent an audio tour wand for $5 at the Audio Tour Building during the summer season (or the Information Center during the winter season) and experience an educational, fun and engaging presentation. It is translated in German, Spanish and Lakota as well.

You can simply sit down and listen to every entry on the wand or follow a suggested route around the park. A map will be provided to all users, but you can choose the various stops in any order.
